Getting started with Frodo

Go ahead and download Frodo and a software image, you will need these to follow through the steps.  If you don't have a software image, I have a copy of The Master of Magic which you can use.  Not only is this a great title (one of my favorites), but it is also perfect example of vintage Rob Hubbard SID music.

Step 1: Start the Frodo emulator

Ahh, looking familiar?

The first step is to assign a "Disk Image" to a floppy drive.  If you'll recall, the C64 had addresses for four floppy drives, numbered 8 through 11.  We're going to assign the Master of Magic virtual floppy to drive 8.

The drives are configured in the preferences...

Click on the "Browse" button next to drive 8

Locate the image, and double click on it.  Exit the preferences screen.  Now drive 8 is assigned to this virtual disk!

Still remember how to pull up a directory?  Remember, the keyboard is still laid out like the old C64 keyboard was-- that means that " marks are SHIFT-2 and plus symbols are actually on the - key.  The full keymap can be found in the Frodo documentation.

Have fun!
