| What can I say? David Spade is
the bomb! True, like Adam Sandler, he's never been quite as funny
since he left SNL, nor since we lost his partner Chris Farley, but this is a
pretty good attempt at making a comedy on his own.
Rather than the nerdy cynical character Spade is known to typically play,
the character in Joe Dirt is a loveable, self depreciating hillbilly with a
haircut and beard that is permanently stuck in the 80s.
The story is fairly straightforward, although there are a few interesting
twists at the end, but it never becomes dull or hackneyed-- something that
seems all too common in many modern comedies of this nature.
All in all, I really liked Joe Dirt, and I actually ended up watching it
twice in two days. The first was just Nicki and I, and the second time
through, we watched it with a friend. A good time was had by all.
And is it just me, or is Dennis Miller just not funny. Ever.
